Slot games are exciting worlds of adventure just waiting to be enjoyed. There are hundred of different slot games available at online casinos, each with a different theme - some are based on famous films, others are cute and quirky and yet more have a classic fruit machine style - whatever you fancy you will find what you are looking for in the world of casino slots!
Slots OverviewSlot games are the most popular games in the casino - there is more money gambled on slots than on all the other casino games put together! Slots use random number generators to spin the reels and determine where they will stop. Players need to match the symbols that come up on the reels and create a pattern. Payout PercentagesCasinos set the number generators to a ratio of their choice, though it is normal for this to be set at a payout rate of 93%. This means the casino has a house edge of 7%. This can vary by slot game and by casino. Known as One Armed Bandits due to the lever that used to be pulled to operate the early machines, slots are just as popular in online casinos as they are in land-based gaming establishments.
Lord of the Rings is an exciting new slot games available at many online casinos including 32Red Casino. Join Frodo and his gang in the Battle for Middle Earth! There are many slot games available to play at Playtech Casinos
History of SlotsSlot machines can be traced back to the late 19th century. American Inventor Charles Fey developed the basic machine between around 1890 - it was a classic one armed bandit, called the Liberty Bell slot. This slot game had three spinning reels and five symbols (diamonds, hearts, spade, horse shoes and the Liberty bell). The biggest payout on this early slot was the three Liberty Bells in a row, which gave the winner 10 nickels. This game was hugely successful and a new mechanical gaming industry was born. Slots are often called fruit machines and the traditional slot machine carries images of cherries, melons and other fruits. The reason for this is that early slot machines sometimes paid winnings in chewing gum - and the reels themselves featured the designs of the different fruity flavours of gum. The other well-known fruit machine symbol, the BAR icon, is derived from an early logo for the Bell Fruit Gum Company.
